Donald Trump has announced that as of August 1, 2025, all Moldovan products will be subject to a 25% tariff on the US market, a lower rate than previously proposed. The Moldovan government confirmed the official notification and emphasized that the tariff will be applied only to exported products, while Moldovan investors producing in the US will be exempt from the duty. Trump noted that these measures are necessary to correct the trade deficit between the two countries, which is affecting the US economy. Moldova has a trade deficit of about 45 million dollars with the US, with the main export being alcohol.
