The proposed legislation would ban ByteDance-controlled platforms from U.S. app stores or web hosting services unless they are no longer linked to China. The legislation would allow the president to extend the ban to other social media platforms deemed to pose a national security risk. TikTok has become a news source for young people, but US politicians have raised concerns about data security.
