The meeting in Madrid marks the fourth discussion in four months between American officials and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, with the main topics being the sale of the TikTok application and the imposition of tariffs on Russian oil. A deadline extension for the sale of TikTok is expected, and American officials are urging the G7 to impose tariffs on China to stop purchases of Russian oil. Additionally, discussions are taking place on combating money laundering and efforts to reduce dependence on state-subsidized exports from China. The Spanish government also proposes to improve bilateral relations with the US by hosting these discussions.
