Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, criticized platform X, owned by Elon Musk, for the appearance of false images with explicit sexual content, created with the help of the Grok chatbot. She emphasized that it is unacceptable for a technology platform to allow users to digitally undress women and children. Von der Leyen warned technology companies that they will not outsource the protection and consent of children to Silicon Valley and that, in the absence of actions from them, the European Commission will intervene.

Since the beginning of the year, numerous women and public figures have reported that their photographs have been altered to present them in indecent poses. This phenomenon has led to investigations in several European countries, and the European Commission has asked platform X to preserve all documents related to Grok, thus intensifying the investigation into content moderation. The false images are considered illegal and disgusting by the authorities. In response, X has limited AI image generation to users with paid subscriptions, but this measure does not close the European investigation. The case represents a test for the relationship between European authorities and large American technology companies. Recently, Brussels fined X 120 million euros for violating the Digital Services Act, provoking a strong reaction from the United States.
