UniCredit, the Italian bank, announced on Friday that it does not intend to liquidate its operations in Russia or to give up its local subsidiary's license, thus maintaining its presence in the Russian market despite the conflict in Ukraine. This clarification comes in response to rumors that emerged in the press, suggesting that UniCredit was considering the possibility of closing its business in Russia. The bank's spokesperson emphasized that its strategy remains unchanged.

UniCredit, which controlled one of the top 15 banks in Russia before the invasion of Ukraine, has been under pressure from the European Central Bank to reduce ties with Russia. However, CEO Andrea Orcel stated that the bank will not make a decision that would harm shareholders by withdrawing at a loss. Currently, UniCredit is focusing its operations in Russia on supporting international companies in processing payments, thus maintaining ties with Western markets.
