Independent experts of the UN Human Rights Council have stated that the crimes documented by the US Department of Justice related to Jeffrey Epstein are the result of beliefs in supremacy, racism, and extreme misogyny. They emphasize that the scale and systematic nature of the atrocities against women and girls could meet the legal criteria for crimes against humanity.

Experts are calling for an independent and thorough investigation to understand how these crimes were committed over such a long period. They also express their concern regarding the breaches of confidentiality and anonymization of information that have affected the victims.

So far, over 1,200 victims have been identified, and the reluctance to disclose information has caused re-traumatization of survivors.

The published documents have revealed connections of Epstein with influential people, and his death in 2019 was declared a suicide.

A recently approved law mandates the publication of all documents related to the Epstein case.
