The Ukrainian army has released a video recording in which a Ukrainian pilot shoots down a Russian cruise missile using a Mirage 2000-5F fighter jet, provided by France. This show of force was broadcast during negotiations for an American peace plan aimed at ending the nearly four-year war with Russia.

The Mirage aircraft were used for the first time in March 2024, during a massive Russian attack, and France decided to transfer them to Ukraine after pressure from allies. Although initially reluctant, France delivered six Mirage 2000-5F aircraft to Ukraine, and recently, President Macron signed an agreement for the purchase of 100 Rafale aircraft by Kiev.
