Rustem Umerov, the chief negotiator for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, arrived in Berlin on Tuesday to hold discussions with the national security advisors of the E3 group, consisting of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. The information was confirmed by sources to the publication POLITICO, although a spokesperson for the German chancellery mentioned that the meeting is confidential, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin declined to comment.
Umerov's trip to Berlin follows a previous meeting in Brussels with an official from the European Commission to discuss cooperation in the defense industry.
In the context of recent Russian attacks on Kyiv, Umerov is seeking international support, and discussions in Europe include the possibility of appointing a high-ranking representative for negotiations with Vladimir Putin, among the names mentioned being Mario Draghi and Angela Merkel.
