The Ciongar Bridge, a strategic point connecting the Crimean Peninsula with the Russian-occupied part of the Kherson region, was damaged following an attack on Ukraine.

Vladimir Saldo, the Russia-backed governor of the Kherson region, stated that the bridge has been closed to road traffic and recommended an alternative route through the Perekop isthmus. These attacks are part of a Ukrainian operation launched in May, aimed at isolating the Crimean Peninsula, an important military center for Russia, illegally annexed in 2014.

The peninsula has only three access routes, and the Ukrainian attacks have led to fuel rationing in the area.
