Kyiv’s Northern Bridge was hit on Saturday during a Russian drone attack, days after the Ukrainian capital’s Southern Bridge was attacked. Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that emergency services were heading to the scene.
The road surface and trolleybus cables were damaged, and traffic was halted in the direction from the left bank to the right bank of the Dnipro River. The attack occurred after an air-raid alert was issued in Kyiv, with authorities reporting drones in the capital area.
The Northern Bridge is the second major bridge in Kyiv to be hit in recent days. On Thursday and Friday, Russian drones attacked the Southern Bridge, leading to its closure and massive traffic jams across the city.
Klitschko described the situation in Kyiv as “very dramatic” amid attacks on critical infrastructure, logistics and homes. The capital has eight main road and railway bridges that are essential for transport and supplies. Traffic on the Paton, Metro and, temporarily, Darnytskyi bridges was also restricted, although authorities did not report attacks on them.
