Serhii K. was arrested in Rimini, Italy, on suspicion of coordinating the operation to sabotage the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in September 2022. The explosions caused gas leaks and significant damage, affecting Russian gas supplies to Europe. The investigation, carried out by German authorities, led to the discovery of traces of military explosives on a yacht chartered under a false identity. Although Sweden and Denmark have closed their inquiries without charges, Germany is continuing the investigation and Serhii K. will be transferred to Germany for trial.
