Oleksandr Sirski, commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, has called for an acceleration of fortification construction in the Sumy region, where Russian troops are gaining ground. Sîrski stressed the need to strengthen fortifications and create anti-drone corridors in the face of Russian threats. Although the advance of Russian troops has been temporarily halted, Russia has deployed some 50,000 troops in the area. Ukraine continues to defend its positions and reclaim territory, while peace talks remain deadlocked.
