The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested Western partners to allocate 0.25% of their GDP to support arms production in Ukraine. Although the idea was put forward by NATO officials, including NATO chief Mark Rutte, it has not gained support.
The Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey, Nariman Djelialov, expressed hope that Zelensky will attend the summit in Ankara on July 7-8, where Kyiv wishes to reaffirm support for NATO membership. Ukraine relies on international aid to cover its budget needs and finance the war with Russia. Djelialov emphasized that, although not all allies are willing to allocate resources, Ukraine proposes a mechanism in which each NATO member contributes a portion of its resources.
Additionally, Ukraine has sent Turkey a proposal for cooperation in the field of drones, including sales and joint production, recognizing Turkey's production capacity as essential in this process.
