Andrii Săbiga, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, stated that Ukrainian and Russian leaders need to meet in person to address the outstanding issues in the peace negotiations, insisting that American President Donald Trump has the power to facilitate an agreement. Ukraine wants to accelerate peace efforts, considering the upcoming electoral campaign in the USA. Săbiga mentioned that out of a 20-point peace plan, only a few remain unresolved, and the most sensitive issues need to be discussed at the leadership level. Despite recent discussions, no significant progress has been made, and Russia continues to demand the cession of territories, which Ukraine refuses. Săbiga emphasized the importance of Western security guarantees to deter future aggressions and mentioned that the USA is prepared to support a peace agreement without sending troops to Ukraine. He also expressed concern about the bilateral discussions between Russia and the USA, which could affect Ukraine's sovereignty, stressing that any recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Crimea or Donbas would be unacceptable.
