The head of the Ukrainian diplomacy, Andrii Sybiga, accused Hungary of 'taking hostage' seven employees of Oschadbank, who were transporting 35 million euros and 9 kg of gold from Austria. Sybiga denounced Hungary's actions as acts of terrorism and extortion, demanding the immediate release of his compatriots. Oschadbank confirmed that its armored vehicles are in Budapest, but could not specify the location of the employees.

The Hungarian government has not responded to the accusations, and Ukraine intends to ask the European Union to condemn Hungary's actions. These tensions arise against the backdrop of deteriorating relations between Kiev and Budapest, with Hungary blocking sanctions measures against Russia and demanding conditions for the resumption of oil deliveries through Ukraine.
