The United Kingdom will participate in NATO's airborne nuclear deterrent by purchasing 12 F-35 aircraft capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce the decision at the NATO summit in The Hague, emphasizing that it is the biggest strengthening of Britain's nuclear posture in decades. The planes will strengthen the Royal Air Force's capabilities and contribute to national security in the face of threats, particularly from Russia. The UK will also increase its defense budget, allocating 5% of GDP to security by 2035.
