The UK has lifted sanctions imposed on the Central Bank of Syria and 23 other Syrian entities amid political changes in the country.

The decision to lift sanctions came as the West is reassessing its approach to Syria after rebels took control of the country. The UK did not give a reason for the decision, but announced that asset freezes and travel bans imposed on former members of the Syrian government will remain in place.
