Two young women from Romania, aged 25 and 26, are missing after a historic building in Görlitz, Germany, collapsed on the night from Monday to Tuesday, most likely due to a gas explosion. German authorities have confirmed that, alongside the two Romanian women, a man aged 47-48, with dual German and Bulgarian citizenship, is also missing. Initially, it was believed that up to five people could be trapped under the rubble, but it was later established that two of them were not in the building at the time of the incident. Rescue teams, equipped with search dogs, have been unable to locate the victims, and rescue operations are complicated by the risks of further explosions. The collapsed building, in Wilhelminian style, was used both for residential housing and for tourist accommodation. A man stated that his wife and cousin, the two missing Romanian women, had come on the same day for a vacation.
