Two missiles reportedly hit Qeshm Island in southern Iran on Saturday, according to preliminary information reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency. There is currently no official information about any possible casualties or damage.
The official IRNA news agency earlier reported that two projectiles had allegedly fallen in the Suza area after witnesses heard the sound of an aircraft over the island. Tasnim said the relevant authorities were investigating the incident and that further details would be published once the information was confirmed.
The report comes amid tensions between Iran and the United States and negotiations to end the war between the two countries. Qatar’s International Press Office on Saturday denied reports that Washington and Tehran had failed to reach an agreement, calling them false and misleading.
The institution said Qatar’s prime minister had confirmed that both sides’ efforts to conclude an agreement were continuing. Qatar is maintaining its role as mediator and coordinating negotiations with Washington and Tehran.
