Two French children, Zacharie and Barthélemy, aged 3 and 5, were abandoned on a road in southern Lisbon, Portugal, being found by a baker who alerted the authorities. The two brothers, scared and crying, were temporarily cared for by the baker's family until the arrival of the gendarmes. The children's mother and stepfather were arrested a few days after the incident. According to the children's statements, their parents had blindfolded them and told them they were playing a game, then left them alone. The children's biological father, who reported their disappearance in France, filed a complaint for kidnapping. The Portuguese authorities opened an investigation and began procedures to place the children with a guardian, awaiting their repatriation to France. The children's mother, identified as Marine R., has a partner with a controversial profile.
