The governor of the Turkish province of Edirne has announced plans to build a wall on the border with Greece to deter illegal entries into the European Union. The wall will initially be 8.5km long, with other sections to be built later. Turkey signed an agreement with the EU in 2016 to stem the flow of refugees to Europe, but tensions have remained high and migrants continue to try to reach Greece.
