The American president Donald Trump will be present on Sunday at the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, where he will hand over the trophy to the winning team. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed this, mentioning that Trump will play an important role in the ceremony. Although he did not attend matches during the competition, Trump intervened in the case of the suspension of American star Folarin Balogun.
On the other hand, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, has decided not to participate for superstitious reasons, choosing to watch the match from home, where he has had success in previous matches. Milei will wear the same jacket he wore during the matches won by Argentina.
In contrast, the Spanish royal family and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will be present at the final, despite recent tensions with Trump.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, declined the invitation to attend.
The final will take place in New York, starting at 10:00 PM.
