American President Donald Trump declared that he will 'bomb' Oman if the country 'interferes' with discussions regarding the sovereignty of the Strait of Hormuz. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that he is not in a hurry to finalize a peace agreement with Iran and confirmed that Washington has a direct communication channel with members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In a phone conversation, Trump threatened that if Oman intervenes, the U.S. will respond harshly. Oman, a country known for its neutrality, shares the sovereignty of the Strait of Hormuz with Iran, and Trump emphasized that he will designate this navigable route as American territory.
He also called on Iran to surrender, reiterating that the main objective is for Iran not to develop nuclear weapons. The statements were made in the context of the expiration of a 60-day memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran.
