Last month, American President Donald Trump threatened military intervention in Nigeria, citing the violence against Christians committed by radical groups. The Nigerian government rejected these accusations, and the Trump administration imposed strict visa restrictions on citizens from developing countries, including Nigeria, particularly targeting individuals involved in violations of religious freedom. Senator Marco Rubio stated that the measure represents a response to the violence against Christians. Although Trump suggested the possibility of military intervention, American officials clarified that alternatives such as military cooperation and sanctions are also being considered. Nigeria, divided between Christian and Muslim communities, frequently faces conflicts, and attacks on places of worship are often driven by looting rather than religious motives.
