This suspension applies to countries already subject to partial restrictions in June. Trump has intensified rhetoric against the Somali community, stating that he does not want immigrants from Somalia, which he considers a country without structure. The new policy will require a reexamination of immigration applications from these countries, including additional interviews to assess security threats. The list of targeted countries includes Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran, and Venezuela, and immigration organizations have reported the cancellation of naturalization ceremonies for affected individuals.
