The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced an emergency meeting at the White House to discuss the situation in Iran, in the context of the violent repression against protests. Trump emphasized the seriousness of the situation and is awaiting updated figures regarding the number of deaths, estimated by human rights organizations to be at least 2,403 protesters killed. In an interview, he warned Iran not to execute protesters, stating that the USA will take "strong measures" if the regime continues with the executions. Trump mentioned that there could be economic assistance for the Iranian people, but did not detail the nature of it. The meeting included high-ranking officials from the national security sector, and Trump emphasized that the USA will respond "accordingly" to the death toll.
