The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed two executive orders on Thursday aimed at restricting access to American citizenship by birth. One of the executive orders proposes limiting the number of people who can automatically obtain citizenship simply by being born on U.S. soil, while the second focuses on reducing 'birth tourism' by tightening visa requirements for individuals wishing to give birth in the United States.

Although the details of the measures have not been disclosed, Trump claims that they comply with the Constitution. This initiative comes after, in June, the Supreme Court rejected a similar proposal from the Trump administration. In the past, Trump signed an executive order that would have excluded children born in the U.S. to illegal parents from obtaining citizenship, a measure contested in court. Although the Supreme Court blocked the initiative, Trump continues to insist on the need to change the current rules, and the new executive orders are expected to be challenged in court again.
