President Donald Trump announced on Friday his intention to ask Attorney General Pam Bondi for an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's relationships with various influential people, including political rivals. His statement came after emails from Epstein's archive were published that mention him. Trump claimed that Democrats are using the Epstein scandal to distract from their internal problems and called for an investigation into Epstein's connections with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, and other figures. Trump also tried to downplay questions related to Epstein, urging Republicans to block a funding petition in the House of Representatives and requested a vote for the release of Justice Department files related to Epstein. The Speaker of the House announced that this vote will be included on next week's agenda. Trump characterized the situation as a "witch hunt" similar to the allegations related to Russia.
