Donald Trump declares that the NATO summit in Ankara was "a great success": "I didn't expect mature people to tell me that they love me"

President Donald Trump stated that the NATO summit in Ankara was a "great success," highlighting the extraordinary unity among the attending leaders.

"We saw a lot of understanding in the room where the discussions took place (...) I didn't expect mature people to tell me that they love me. There was a lot of unity in the room where the discussions were held".

Trump praised Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan for his role as host and emphasized that NATO is making significant progress towards the goal of allocating 5% of GDP for defense spending. He mentioned that, under his pressure, NATO members agreed to increase defense spending by 2035.

NATO member states' current spending has reached $150 billion, and investments of $4 billion in collaboration with American companies have been announced.

Trump emphasized the need to accelerate the production of defense equipment, mentioning an agreement between Lockheed Martin and Rheinmetall for the production of ATACMS missiles in Germany. He stated that American equipment is preferred due to superior performance and informed leaders about U.S. measures to rapidly increase production.
