Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that, due to Ontario's "flagrant" behavior, "All trade negotiations with Canada are hereby terminated." The recently launched ad includes excerpts from a 1987 speech by Reagan, in which he warned about the negative effects of tariffs.

The Ronald Reagan Foundation reacted, stating that the ad uses "selective audio content" and that Ontario did not seek permission for the use of the speech. Trump called the ad "false" and suggested that it could influence a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court regarding his tariff strategy.
