American President Donald Trump decided on Thursday to dismiss Attorney General Pam Bondi, a close associate of his, who has been criticized for the way she handled cases related to Jeffrey Epstein. In her place, Todd Blanche, the deputy attorney general and former personal lawyer of Trump, will take over the interim position. Bondi's dismissal has been confirmed by several publications, including CNN and AFP. Trump described Bondi as a "great patriot" and praised her efforts in combating crime, noting that the number of crimes has dropped to the lowest level since 1900. However, Bondi has frequently been criticized for her ties to Trump and for handling investigations related to Epstein, which has raised controversies regarding her professional independence. This decision comes at a delicate moment for the Trump administration, in the context where the role of the Department of Justice is being closely monitored by the public and the media.
