Donald Trump criticized the referendum won by the Democrats in Virginia, which allows them to redraw the state's electoral map, claiming it is a "rigged" process.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the Democrats achieved an "unfair victory" and accused them of fraudulent elections, similar to his unfounded claims regarding the 2020 defeat. He emphasized that, although Republicans initially led, mail-in votes changed the outcome. Following this referendum, Republicans have filed legal challenges to block the redistricting, which could be adjudicated by the Virginia Supreme Court. Trump has consistently criticized mail-in voting, considering it a major reason for his loss in 2020.
In this context, the Democrats hope to increase the number of representatives from Virginia in Congress, from six to ten, through this new electoral redistricting.
