Donald Trump has launched new criticisms against Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, shortly after the conclusion of the G7 summit in Evian, France.
In an interview broadcast by the La7 network, Trump stated that Meloni begged him to take a picture with her, adding that he felt sorry for her. Although Meloni claimed that their relationship remains "unchanged" and that there were no reproaches between them, Trump emphasized that Italy's position has changed, accusing her of not providing assistance in the context of the American-Israeli war against Iran.
Meloni, who was the only European leader invited to Trump's inauguration ceremony, angered him by refusing to allow the use of a military base in Sicily for raids. Trump also criticized her for defending Pope Leo XIV, whom he called "weak in the face of criminality."
