Donald Trump announced that Iran is in discussions with the United States, without providing further details, in the context in which Tehran seems to opt for diplomacy instead of a U.S. military attack. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that the Iranians "are in the process of negotiating" and that the U.S. has a significant military presence in the Middle East. The Iranian president, Massoud Pezeshkian, stated that a war would not be in the interest of either party and that Iran prefers to resolve disputes through diplomacy. Additionally, the head of diplomacy from Qatar visited Tehran to reaffirm support for efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
