US President Donald Trump has announced tariff hikes of 35% on Canadian goods, effective August 1, 2025, in response to tariffs imposed by Canada. These tariffs will be applied on top of existing tariffs on steel, aluminum and automobiles. Trump noted that these tariffs may be adjusted depending on trade relations with Canada. He also announced his intention to send similar letters to other trading partners, including the European Union, amid increased tariffs on various countries.
