Meeting between Donald Trump and Giorgia Meloni, after the deterioration of relations: Trump accuses her of having "changed" after the war in Iran

At the G7 summit in Evian, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, had a private meeting described as "clarifying."

According to the ANSA agency, the two leaders had a "useful exchange of views," emphasizing the need for Western unity in the context of the current international crisis. Although Meloni has been a supporter of Trump, their relationship has been affected by the war in Iran, with Trump accusing her of changing and that Italy is not providing the necessary assistance. This tension has been amplified by the Italian government's refusal to allow the use of a military base in Sicily for raids against Iran.

Meloni has also faced criticism from Trump for defending Pope Leo XIV, whom the American leader considered "weak" in the face of criminality.
