On Friday, a bus traveling from Lima to La Merced plunged into a 50-meter deep ravine in the Junin region, killing 18 people, including two children. About 60 passengers were on board. Authorities point out that road accidents are frequent in Peru due to excessive speeding, poor road conditions and a lack of signage. In 2024, more than 3,173 people died in road accidents in the country.
