Tiburon, a town in California with approximately 9,000 residents, has adopted a strict law that prohibits smoking both in public spaces and in rented apartments. This measure makes Tiburon a unique case in the USA, banning the sale of cigarettes, cigars, and electronic cigarettes throughout the locality, including the delivery of tobacco products by mail. Smokers are required to smoke only at home, but only if they live in single-family homes. Apartment owners must include anti-smoking clauses in rental contracts. Violating these rules can lead to fines of up to $1,000. The only places where smoking is allowed are cigar lounges. Other cities in California have similar measures, but Tiburon stands out for the severity of its regulations.
