Three skiers died on Saturday following avalanches in the regions of Trentino Alto Adige and Lombardy, areas that host the events of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Two avalanches occurred in the Marmolada area of the Dolomites, where a man was buried under snow after triggering the avalanche, while the other three skiers tried to save him. In Albosaggia, another village in Valtellina, two more skiers died, and a possible fourth victim was reported in Trentino Alto Adige. The heavy snowfall in recent days has increased the risk of avalanches, and AINEVA has warned of a high risk for Sunday, highlighting the dangers associated with fresh snow and moderate winds.
