The blaze, dubbed the Canyon Fire, broke out around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, quickly spreading over four square miles in just five hours. By late Thursday afternoon, the fire was completely out of control and spreading eastward. In LA County, about 4,200 residents and 1,400 structures are under evacuation orders, and another 12,500 residents are under an evacuation warning.
