The White House has developed a list of NATO countries, classifying them based on their contributions to the alliance, in the context in which the Trump administration is seeking ways to sanction allies who did not support military efforts against Iran. This initiative, which was discussed prior to NATO chief Mark Rutte's visit to Washington, reflects President Trump's intention to apply pressure on allies.

Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, emphasized that allies who fulfill their obligations will receive special attention, while those who do not will face consequences. Although the details remain unclear, discussions are underway about withdrawing troops or restricting cooperation with allies deemed "disobedient."

Romania and Poland could benefit from this classification, considering that both countries are regarded as "tame" and are open to receiving more American troops. Criticism has also emerged from some American officials, who emphasize the importance of alliances and the risks of such an approach.
