In the context of the increasing demand for visas from football fans wishing to attend the 2026 World Cup, the U.S. State Department will supplement staff at certain embassies and consulates. Although the countries and the exact number of officials have not been determined, it is expected that fans from countries not part of the Visa Waiver Program will require interviews to obtain a visa. The Department has emphasized that it will maintain rigorous verification requirements, despite previous restrictive measures regarding immigration.
