British officials have confirmed that the Trump administration is exerting pressure for trade concessions from the United Kingdom that are not related to the technological partnership. Trade negotiations began in May, following an agreement to reduce tariffs imposed by Trump. American officials are dissatisfied with the avoidance of discussions about non-tariff barriers, particularly regarding regulations for food and industrial products. Although Trump has criticized the digital services tax in the UK, British officials believe the issue is not significant. A spokesperson for the British government reaffirmed the United Kingdom's commitment to maintaining the special relationship with the USA and ensuring opportunities through the technological prosperity agreement.
