The United States has significantly strengthened its military presence in the Caribbean by deploying the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which will arrive in the region next week, accompanied by other warships and thousands of troops. According to the Pentagon, the purpose of this mobilization is to detect and disrupt illegal activities that threaten the safety of the U.S. and the region. Since the beginning of September, U.S. forces have carried out strikes against vessels suspected of drug trafficking, resulting in the deaths of at least 43 people. The Venezuelan government, led by Nicolás Maduro, has denounced this action as a provocation and has requested military support from Russia, China, and Iran. Analysts suggest that the U.S. mobilization could indicate a possible expansion of operations in the region, raising concerns about the stability of the Caribbean-Venezuelan area. American lawmakers have called for legal clarifications regarding the military actions being conducted.
