The United States military has deployed three B-52 strategic bombers near the coasts of Venezuela, thus confirming a show of force mission in the region. The flights took place about 240 km north of Venezuela, over the Caribbean Sea, and are part of an increase in American military presence in the area, which includes eight warships and a nuclear submarine.
Currently, approximately 10,000 American troops are in the Caribbean region, and the military has recently conducted airstrikes against vessels suspected of drug trafficking. Relations between Washington and Caracas have deteriorated, with the Trump administration accusing President Nicolas Maduro of colluding with drug cartels.
