The United States is analyzing the deployment of nuclear weapons in other European NATO member states as a measure to assure allies that the reduction of conventional military support does not affect security guarantees. American officials have expressed a willingness to extend deployments beyond the six countries that already host nuclear bombers. Confidential discussions are taking place against the backdrop of concerns related to the withdrawal of American troops from Europe. Countries on NATO's eastern flank, such as Poland, have shown interest in hosting these weapons. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has amplified allies' desire for a broader nuclear umbrella. The current nuclear sharing program includes Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The NATO Secretary General emphasized that, despite the redirection of resources to other regions, the deterrent capability in Europe must remain intact.
