The German Minister of Economy, Katherina Reiche, stated that the US government has provided a written assurance, confirming that the activities of the Russian company Rosneft in Germany will be exempt from the new energy sanctions. She specified that Rosneft's operations have been completely separated from the Russian parent company, which led to requests for clarifications from Berlin. Rosneft's refineries in Germany, under fiduciary management since 2022, are essential for the country's fuel supply. Among them is the PCK refinery in Schwedt, which accounts for over 12% of Germany's fuel processing capacity and is an important employer in Brandenburg.
