The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, declared on Wednesday that the U.S. has achieved a 'decisive military victory' in the operation against Iran, announcing a two-week ceasefire during which Washington and Tehran will negotiate a peace agreement. Hegseth stated that Iran's air forces have been completely annihilated, and the country no longer has an effective air defense system.
According to the Secretary of Defense, Iran's missile program has been destroyed, and production facilities and stockpiles have been decimated, rendering them nearly ineffective. Hegseth mentioned that 800 airstrikes took place on Tuesday evening, destroying Iran's industrial base, which prevents the country from building more missiles or drones. This situation paves the way for peace negotiations, in the context where the U.S. is consolidating its control over Iranian airspace.
