The USA has carried out a new interception of an oil tanker in the Caribbean, targeting Olina, which was sailing under a false flag, as part of efforts to control oil exports from Venezuela. According to some officials, the tanker recently left Venezuela, being part of a flotilla, and was returning loaded with oil despite the blockade imposed by the USA. Olina had been sanctioned last year for its involvement in the transport of Russian oil.

This action comes after the USA confiscated another Venezuelan tanker, Marinera, escorted by Russian ships, which risks escalating tensions with Russia. Additionally, the Trump administration announced plans to control oil sales from Venezuela to stabilize the country's economy and rehabilitate the neglected oil sector. Trump will meet with executives from the energy industry to persuade them to contribute to the restoration of Venezuela's oil infrastructure.
