Keir Starmer announced the deployment of the destroyer HMS Dragon in Cyprus in response to an Iranian drone attack on the British base of the Royal Air Force in Akrotiri. The attack, which took place on Monday, caused minor damage without casualties. HMS Dragon, a Type 45 air defense destroyer, is equipped with the Sea Viper anti-air missile system.

Additionally, the United Kingdom will send helicopters with anti-drone capabilities to enhance the security of British military personnel in Cyprus. Starmer emphasized the UK's commitment to the security of Cyprus and mentioned that he discussed these measures with the President of Cyprus. France and Greece have also announced that they will send anti-drone systems in support of Cyprus.
